On joint distributions of the maximum, minimum and terminal value of a continuous uniformly integrable martingale

چکیده
We study the joint laws of a continuous, uniformly integrable martingale, its maximum, and its minimum. In particular, we give explicit martingale inequalities which provide upper and lower bounds on the joint exit probabilities of a martingale, given its terminal law. Moreover, by constructing explicit and novel solutions to the Skorokhod embedding problem, we show that these bounds are tight. Together with previous results of Azéma & Yor, Perkins, Jacka and Cox & Ob lój, this allows us to completely characterise the upper and lower bounds on all possible exit/no-exit probabilities, subject to a given terminal law of the martingale. In addition, we determine some further properties of these bounds, considered as functions of the maximum and minimum.

A Conditional Gaussian Martingale Algorithm for Global Optimization
A stochastic algorithm for determination of a global minimum of a real valued continuous function over a compact interval of the real line satisfying a mild convexity condition is presented, an implementation is used to annalize an example and the convergence of this algorithm is proved. The algorithm may be thought to belong to the random search class but although we use Gaussian distributions...
متن کاملThe martingale property in the context of stochastic differential equations
This note studies the martingale property of a nonnegative, continuous local martingale Z, given as a nonanticipative functional of a solution to a stochastic differential equation. The condition states that Z is a (uniformly integrable) martingale if and only if an integral test of a related functional holds.
متن کاملThe Minimum Maximum of a Continuous Martingale with given Initial and Terminal Laws By
Let (Mt )0≤t≤1 be a continuous martingale with initial law M0 ∼ μ0, and terminal law M1 ∼ μ1, and let S = sup0≤t≤1Mt . In this paper we prove that there exists a greatest lower bound with respect to stochastic ordering of probability measures, on the law of S. We give an explicit construction of this bound. Furthermore a martingale is constructed which attains this minimum by solving a Skorokho...

متن کاملRecurrence Relations for Moment Generating Functions of Generalized Order Statistics Based on Doubly Truncated Class of Distributions
In this paper, we derived recurrence relations for joint moment generating functions of nonadjacent generalized order statistics (GOS) of random samples drawn from doubly truncated class of continuous distributions. Recurrence relations for joint moments of nonadjacent GOS (ordinary order statistics (OOS) and k-upper records (k-RVs) as special cases) are obtained. Single and product moment gene...
